What Size Rug Do I Need?

As a starting point: a rug should be large enough that at least the front legs of your main seating furniture sit on it — a rug that "floats" in the middle of a room with no furniture touching it usually reads as too small. For a standard living room, that generally means a rug at least 2.4m x 3m; for a bedroom, large enough that it extends past the sides of the bed. Dubai homes are air-conditioned and generally dry indoors, so the bigger consideration is usually foot traffic and cleaning ease rather than humidity. Wool and wool-blend rugs handle daily use well and are simple to spot-clean. Natural-fibre rugs like sisal add texture but are better suited to lower-traffic rooms. For homes with kids or pets, a synthetic or hand-tufted rug with strong stain resistance is usually the more practical choice.
